Description

Camtek Solder Seal Wire Connectors SPECIFICATION Shrinkage ratio is 2:1Dual-walled design tubing: polyolefin tubing on the outside and hot melt adhesive inside.Minimum shrink temperature: 80℃ (176℉)Minimum temperature for solder to melt: 138℃ (280℉) NOTE When using the heat air gun, swinging it mildly so that the terminals can be heated evenly.Since the heat shrink tube shrinks faster than the solder ring melts, after the heat shrink tube is completely shrunk, focus on the melting of the solder ring and swinging the heat gun around the solder ring. Waterproof High tensile strength Color coded connector tubing Heat activated waterproof adhesive Resistant to abrasion and stretch Suggest used a 1500W heat gun THE USAGE OF WATERPROOF SOLDER WIRE CONNECTORS WATERPROOF Protection against wire corrosionPrevent any short circuit issuesWidely used on marine projects HOT MELT ADHESIVE Create a waterproof sealResistant to stretch and vibrationColor coded for easy identificationCreate a tighter and more durable connection SOLDER RING Starts to melt at lower temperature: 138℃ (280℉)Prevents burns in the heat shrink tubingThe enough solder around the wire, melt and flow until form seal on the wire.

Features

PACKAGE Solder connector kit come within a reusable case, easy to store and carry. This package includes 200pcs orange solder seal connectors that can be used on wire AWG 8

HIGH QUALITY Polyolefin tubing outside and hot melt adhesive inside would effectively improve the waterproof performance of solder seal wire connectors and prevent wire corrosion. Shrink Ratio 21

EASY TO USE NO Crimping Needed. With only a heat gun, in one step create a compact, secure, waterproof and insulated connection

WIDE APPLICATIONS Ideal used for vehicle, motorcycle, boat, DIY electrical wirings and other outdoor applications

NO SLIP WIRE CONTACT Tubing reduces in size and solder will melt and flow through the stripped wires, ensure strong holding, your wire will never slip out of the connector

Update: I had to remove a connector and the heat shrink was in fact tight and could not be slid off. Original review below. These do have a more milky clear than others but they work. They are a great value after all!The price of this bulk package is quite appealing if you have hundreds of wires to solder and heat shrink. Once you use them the value is not there. These solder connectors use a harder heat shrink than some of the other connectors I have used. They also turn milky white when they cool and some seemed to slightly expand upon cooling. This causes the colored ends to not grip the wire and it makes soldering the ring a little bit of a challenge. Also the solder rings in the connectors do not flow as well as some of the smaller packs I purchased. There was not any instructions on the packaging with regard to what temperature to use on these. I searched the web and found a NTE (name brand connectors) tutorial video. They heated the ends some on each side and then came back to melt the solder. I believe this was to get the ends to bite down on the wires so that things wouldn't move around when you go to melt the solder ring. Their product page also said the solder flows at 140C. I set my heat gun to 200C and got to work. Surprisingly I did not ruin any connectors along the way. For some reason sometimes when you are first starting to heat the connector they almost jump to the side on you. I dont know if the plastic gets slick or the heat in the wires makes them wormy but the biggest hurdle in the process is getting the two red ends sucked down to the wire. At one point I was fighting a wire that was noodling around on me and i thought my wire actually poked through the heatshrink. I put down the heat gun and checked it and it had not. I adjusted the wires and applied some heat and called it done. The best part of this type of connectors is the fact that you can solder without smelling lead or flux. You still get the smell of polyolefin (heat shrink) but that is nothing compared to the smell of lead and flux to me. There are also no clouds of toxic smoke to avoid during the process. I cant say whether or not the resistance across this is as good as what you would get with some old school leaded solder and that smokey cloud it provides but for a quick and clean solution this type of connector is the way to go. I did continue to apply heat for a few seconds after all solder had flowed in an attempt to avoid cold joints. I have no idea if this worked or not since I have not measure the resistance yet. In the end I unfortunately could not get the ends of these connectors to consistently grip the wires I was using so this product is just okay to me (3 stars). Other products provided a significantly better grip and solder flow for a slightly higher price per connector. I do not think these would provide a water tight seal at least for my application.
