I was excited to get this crimper, I install weatherpack connectors on everything in my boat. It makes servicing so much easier when things break down. For the past two years, I've been using a generic crimper on my weatherpacks. This has mixed results and usually ends with snapped seal tangs on the terminal. I figured I'd breakdown and get a specialized crimper. (about two years too late). So, out of the box, the jaws on this crimper slide out to accommodate different terminal gauge sizes. Which is smart, because it covers all of the weather pack sizes. Good bang for the buck. I install the 16-14 jaw and set up my first crimp (16-14), not bad, but I did have to push the seal in towards the terminal so it didn't worm its way out of the crimp. Once the crimper bottomed and he ratchet released, I try to remove the terminal and it's completely jammed in the jaw. I have to destroy the terminal to get it out. I figured that I used the wrong crimp, even though I followed the stamp on the jaw. I set up another and go up a crimp size on the jaw. The crimp came out good, but it still jammed in the bottom of the jaw a little, but still safely removable with a little rocking. Also, the seal tangs didn't really bite in. (With effort) I was able to spin the seal in and out of the tangs. Still a good metal to metal crimp was achieved. The wire strands flared out nicely and I couldn't pull the terminal off the wire.I learner that the larger gauge terminals crimp better if you bend in the seal tangs around the seal a touch before inserting it into the crimper. Otherwise, they can snap from the direct downward pressure of the crimper jaw. Maybe a small out of tool oil on the seal tang section of the jaw could help this.All in all, this isn't a bad crimper for the money. It's way faster, cleaner and has a better chance of success over a generic terminal connector. 2 stars have to come off for the terminal jamming. It's not a professional grade everyday tool but for a hobbyist/DIYer, it fits the bill just fine. Another bonus (maybe) is that it comes with a brochure listing all of the other slide jaws that you can get to avoid purchasing specialized crimpers for all the different terminals out there.
